When you’re planning your wedding it’s pretty much certain that there will be some children involved. However you choose to involve them, there’ll always be the concern about how to keep them entertained during the reception. Believe me, as a parent I’d share the concern of the bride and groom! And as a parent I also know that children love to be involved in any event. You just have to find the right way to achieve it.
When I saw this lady and her fabulous product on Twitter I HAD to share. This is exactly the kind of thing that my children and their friends would just love.
Faye from ‘Smart Kids Learn‘ tells us about her fabulous idea – ‘My Little Box of Learning Fun’.
‘I initially started out as a one to one tutor, providing Maths and English tuition for children in Yorkshire. I wanted to take a fresh approach to tutoring, creating personalised learning resources for each of my children that they could engage with rather than off the shelf material.
The My Little Box of Learning Fun concept came about after having a discussion with one of the children I teach about a wedding they were going to. Their thoughts were ‘it was going to be boring’ and their parents thoughts were ‘how will we keep the kids entertained and have time to catch up with friends’. Based on this I created a personalised Little Box of Learning Fun that provided varied activities around the theme of weddings. I included a camera and an ‘eye spy’ check list for him to take pictures during the day, a wedding card to colour in for the bride and groom and a personalised activity book amongst other things. The box went down a storm with the rest of the kids and looked aesthetically pleasing on the wedding table. I was very conscious that I wanted to create something that looked beautiful on the outside whilst creating a WOW once the box had been opened.
Since then and in the space of only weeks I have extended my range to include other themed boxes too, catering for seasonal and holiday fun and also a bespoke option.
Our boxes cater for children from 3 years to 11 years and are all personalised for each child.’
I think this is a brilliant idea, and one definitely worth considering for your wedding. I know for sure that my children would sit happily colouring and I-spying and then repacking and unpacking their boxes again!
