Bring Me Sunshine: when Little White Books met Eric

You may have seen our promotional image for the Great Northern Wedding Show already?

The images shot on this day are now even more special given Eric’s recent demise at the hands of vandals. On a lovely sunny day earlier this year the Little White Books photoshoot team decamped to Morecambe for fun, fabulous images and fantastical florals. Here is the story behind our day….

Emma at Bridalwear by Emma Louise: ‘We were very excited and privileged to receive Maxine’s call to be involved in
the Great Northern Wedding Show 2015 photoshoot. We were asked if we had the
perfect dress for a seaside shoot and instantly the gorgeous and stunning
Veronique in blush from the fabulous Ivory & Co sprung to
mind.

Veronique is a
really chic and stylish wedding gown. The skirt in the full silk organza is
simply gorgeous complementing the beautiful lace bodice and the 1950s styling
gives it a pretty, retro vintage feel – perfect for a fun photoshoot by the
seaside! Although Veronique is available in ivory we love the new blush colour
and felt that this added that romantic element desired by
brides.

Throughout the
shoot we needed to be able to accessorise the dress in various ways to suit the
locations and different brides. With this in mind we took inspiration from the
details of the dress to create different looks.

We used the classic
birdcage veil Chinita by Joyce Jackson to complement the 1950s retro look and
finished this with gorgeous lace peep toe shoes from Pink by
Paradox.

We also wanted to
highlight the beautiful Swarovski rhinestone and pearl beading that is hand
stitched on the Veronique’s silk sash and so chose the gorgeous Zara headpiece
from Ivory & Co to add a modern twist to this gorgeous
gown.

We
cannot wait to return to the Great Northern Wedding Show in 2015 and we are
excited to announce that Veronique along with the accessories will be showcased
alongside our other wonderful gowns.’

Kerry Baker Make-up Artist: ‘Thoughts of strolling down the beach with the sand
in your toes, brightly coloured deck chairs and the famous Eric Morecambe statue
inspired me to create a look which reflected the playful nature of our shoot. I
chose products which would flatter and enhance our models gorgeous complexion
and features rather than mask them. A palette of vanilla, soft peach and
champagne eyeshadows beautifully enhanced the colour of Vicky’s eyes while a
pair of flirty, fluttery lashes perfectly framed them.

Vicky’s
skin was given a glow with Illamasqua’s Skin Base foundation while subtle
touches of highlighter added a touch of radiance in the Morecambe sun. Cheeks
were flushed with a delicate pink velvet blush, and lips were given a cheeky pop
of girly pink. I avoided using lip-gloss due to the breezy conditions and opted
for a more durable matt finish lip stick, which also resisted transfer onto our
lovely groom Mark!

The
finished look is flirty, fun and feminine and co-ordinated perfectly with
Vicky’s hair and dress.’

L’Hairport by Duncan Fisher: ‘As a specialist in bridal hair I love to work with the whole bridal
look and take into consideration the flawless make-up, gorgeous accessories and
of course the stunning dress. On the day of the shoot these helped me to bring
my hairstyle into place. Our female model Vicky was gorgeous anyway so I wanted
to create a hairstyle that was soft & romantic yet taking into
consideration the fun but more importantly breathtaking backdrop that was to be
Morecombe beach.

I started off by setting Vicky’s shiny brown hair on small hot
tongs using ‘Schwarzkopf Session Label flexible hold hairspray’ (used on the
runway of New York fashion week) to create lots of curls. The curls where then
dressed out using a brilliant shine oil from the ‘Oil Miracle’ range by
Schwarzkopf. I decided to go for a few different looks. The first was all down
with a stunning headband, then into a soft side updo. I then got to show off my
creativity and had so much fun working alongside Mat of Red Floral Architechture, together we
pinned fresh flowers into Vicky’s hair creating an ultimately floral adornment.
I then twisted the remaining hair up and pinned into place to give a very
different look which was flattering and very beautiful. This also fit the
colourful brief perfectly.’

You can’t go to Morecambe and not stop and say hello to Mr. Morecambe himself. Standing on top of his own stairway with the beach as a backdrop, Eric is a fantastic landmark and the perfect spot for some fun! He even gained a button hole as part of the shot!

The groom’s suit was kindly supplied by 1860 Suit Hire from Greenwoods; we added a splash of colour with the stripy tie. Mat from Red Floral Architecture created a huge selection of button holes and bouquets which we used throughout the shoot, collaborating with Duncan for Vicky’s amazing floral head dress.

We had an amazing team on this shoot, resulting in some stunning images. Mick Cookson worked his magic to capture the day; we had so much fun with Eric and his beach and this shows through in all the images.
