Beauty Essentials – Your Top Ten Make Up Kit Items

We’re all guilty of having an over-flowing make up kit, aren’t we? A
cluttered bag of products in which we constantly find ourselves digging around for our
favourite everyday lippy! So we asked a professional make up artist Kerry Baker
what her essential everyday make up kit items are – but she could only choose ten!

Kerry:

Picking out ten favourite items from my kit was tough, I
could have named at least another 50! But here are the products I couldn’t be
without and which you will always find me using on my clients:

1. Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation

Inspired by the cult Asian BB
creams, it’s easy to apply and blends seamlessly without feeling heavy or
looking cakey on the skin. Gives a radiant, flawless finish which lasts and
lasts. It’s my go-to foundation and I love it!

2. Doll 10 BB Drops

A fantastic illuminating primer
which adds luminosity to the skin and is
fantastic for dull or mature skin types. Can be used underneath foundation as a
primer and also on top to add a radiant, healthy (and youthful) glow.

3. House of Glamdolls Glambase Wheel

A collection of cream pigments
designed for concealing, highlighting and sculpting. The products blend
seamlessly with Skin Base as they were both created by make-up guru David Horne
and it’s an absolute staple item in my kit.

4. Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion

A complete winner for me. Prevents
eyeshadow from creasing, fading and wearing off. A little goes a long way too
so it lasts for ages too!

5. Urban Decay Single Eyeshadow in Tease

By appearances it’s not the most
exciting colour out there, but this eyeshadow is the holy grail for me. It’s a
cool taupe shade with a matt finish and the colour payoff is fantastic. It’s so
flattering I use it on nearly all my bridal clients!

6 .Bourjois Ultra Volume Clubbing Mascara

So it’s not the most sexy mascara out
there, but when you consider Bourjois are owned by Chanel, things get little
more interesting. This mascara does not budge (I tested it by chopping 10
onions!) so is perfect for the bride who may shed a tear or ten!

7. Zoeva Brushes

I can’t tell you how much I love these
brushes! Soft, easy to clean, non-shedding and very reasonably priced. They are
synthetic therefore suitable for vegans plus they are so pretty! Pictured are
two of my favourite: the concealor
buffer brush and the smudger brush.

8. Illamasqua Gel Sculpt in Silhouette

If you are struggling to perfect a
subtle, contoured look then this revolutionary gel product is fantastic! Lightweight,
easy to blend and buildable sheer colour, plus there’s a very clever way to
apply this using the side of your hands…definitely one to check out on
Youtube!

9. Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronzing Powder in
Antigua

A really gorgeous light pink shimmery bronzer
which adds a subtle, radiant glow. Used anywhere where the sun naturally hits
the face, it’s a little warmer than a standard brown shade bronzer and is
perfect for bridal beauty.

10. Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

Spraying a fine mist of this over finished
make up sets it for hours and hours! It has vinyl copolymers, which is also
found in hairspray (but MUCH better for the skin) which latch onto the make-up
and means it won’t budge.
