Our Gorgeous Summer Wedding at Falcon Manor - we knew it was going to be incredibly special!

Daniel & Adele Delaney tied the knot at Falcon Manor on 30 July 2016

We had a small number of requirements when we were looking for our wedding venue; we wanted a venue which oozed character, and somewhere with enough accommodation available for close friends and family. Gardens were a must because ours was a summer wedding, however, we didn’t want a large venue where guests could become separated. We had been to a wedding at Mitton Hall (also a James’ Places venue) and it seemed really personal to the couple, and Falcon Manor was just the same.

Location-wise, we considered anywhere within an hour and a half drive from where we lived so that evening guests could have the option to drive. We also wanted somewhere rural and open with beautiful scenery, and Falcon Manor was exactly that.

We booked approximately 20 months prior to our wedding day. The venue was being renovated at the time and there was no set plan on the decor of the main room, but we knew from the theme boards they provided at the open event that it would be done to a fabulous standard and would be a classy, country manor style, similar to what we had seen at other James’ Places venues.

The location of Falcon Manor is so beautiful; Settle is a gorgeous market town in one of the most scenic areas of the Yorkshire Dales. The building itself is full of character and the garden space provided truly stunning views. From the very first time we visited Falcon Manor, the team there were so enthusiastic; for James’ Places it was their first venue to be opened within Yorkshire and we knew it was going to be incredibly special. Our events co-ordinator couldn’t do enough for us and went out of her way to assist us with anything we asked for. She was so passionate about the choices we had made for how to dress the function room.

There are so many beautiful features that make for amazing photo opportunities. The entrance hallway has a huge open fireplace that makes you feel warm and cosy as soon as you walk in.Every room is filled with beautiful ornaments and everything contained within is a feature on its own; the huge fluffy lampshades set the main room off and look so pretty on our photographs. Both bar areas are full of character and have striking features. The staircase is very grand and offered huge potential for photos. The small ‘snug’ room has a beautiful fireplace area and looks down onto the gardens where we took lots of pictures outside on the stone steps. The gardens themselves are so full of colour with open fields and hills stretching behind them. One of my favourite photos is taken at the front of the venue; the building is just beautiful and from arriving in the wedding car it looked nothing other than perfect.

We had lots of lace, logs, jam jars, pearls, hessian and our colour theme was peach. Our florist was Hedgehogg, based in Colne. They filled our jars with gypsophilia and assorted peach flowers, and supplied fishbowls for the bouquets to stand in on the top table. We supplied most of the table dressing ourselves, and the venue kindly set everything up for us. Our whole theme matched the venue perfectly, but it would be impossible to have a wedding that doesn’t look amazing there, because the rooms are styled so beautifully already.

On the day, the team at Falcon Manor made everything run seamlessly, they were polite to the guests and catered really well for those who wanted non-alcoholic drinks or had food allergies. I have never heard guests so complimentary about a wedding venue before. The food was undoubtedly the best of any wedding we’ve been to before (and we’re not saying that because we are biased). We thank them all hugely for giving us a truly memorable day.
